Every once in a while a show comes along that is so inspiring that you become hooked. Maybe it’s the gripping story, the scenery, or some great fashion.
For us at Decor Curator when a show has great interiors, we’re interested.
And that brings us to the topic of Emily in Paris.
Emily in Paris
If you’ve never heard of this show, let us introduce you. Emily in Paris is a Netflix show that has had a few seasons now. The main character, Emily, moves to Paris from Chicago when her marketing firm acquires a french marketing firm. Along her journeys in Paris, she has some less than ideal cultural forced learnings, makes some great friends, and has her fair share of love interests with lots of conflict intertwined.
But one of the best parts of the show is that its setting in Paris, basically the design capital of the world, makes for great fashion and our favorite – interiors!

Design Themes in Emily in Paris
While there are definitely a variety of sets and styles in the show, there are a few themes that we can’t help but notice (and love!):
- Lots of modern elements: You may be surprised to hear of the amount of modern decor thrown into the sets of Emily in Paris, with Paris being a city known for its significant history and classic interiors. However, the modern elements in the interiors seen in the show balance some of the older and classic architectural elements to make it feel less like you’re watching characters stroll through a museum. This modern theme especially is shown in the artwork on the walls in the sets.
- Lighting that steals the show: Almost every light fixture shown in the interiors, particularly in the marketing office, are stars of the show in their own right.
- Playful colors: In her marketing firm’s office, there’s a gorgeous pink sofa that makes the space less serious and more fun 🙂
- Flowers: To be fair, every space deserves flowers. But they’re definitely a theme in this show.
- Midcentury modern: Lots of the furniture in Emily in Paris fits best in the midcentury modern category for their clean lines and simplicity.
- Classic drinkware: As lots of wine is consumed on this show, it also has its fair share of your typical wine vessels, with coupe glasses making a special appearance.
