Mid-century modern, hopefully to no surprise, gets its name from when it came to prominence, in the middle of the twentieth century.
The world was rapidly changing in the post-World War II era and that was reflected in design that was more functional and less ornate.
Most of us likely don’t have houses that are true mid-century modern style, but we can certainly decorate with some of the wonderful pieces from this style.
However, to avoid looking like you just entered a time capsule, it’s best to not go all out with everything mid-century vintage, but rather mix in some modern day and other styles for a truly collected look.
