If you’re feeling the winter blues, trust me you are not alone.
There are many things about winter that make a lot of us feel a bit down. Between the cooler temperatures and short days with limited sunshine, it gets a bit closed-in feeling. These climate-related features also lead to less events and activities to do.
Sometimes you might think that you just need to hibernate until spring comes around.
However, we’re here to tell you that there are ways to embrace the negative features of winter and have yourself a very happy winter. No hibernation required!
In fact, several of the happiest places in the world are known for having some of the coldest winters and shortest days. If they can handle that and be happier on average, then we can too!

How to Create a Cozy House for Winter:
Soft Blankets and Pillows
This one may come as no surprise to you. Soft things bring out all the cozy feelings and keep you warm. They create the perfect spot to curl up with a nice drink and do some reading or whatever makes you happy!
Candles
There’s a good reason why all nice restaurants use candles. They create wonderful ambience that provide a relaxing atmosphere. The small fire that they provide also invokes feelings of warmth. An added bonus of scented candles is an aroma that can relax you even more!
Games
It can be tempting to hide out in your house by yourself for all of winter, but now is the time to surround yourself with others! Games are a great way to get together and bond. The ones that we included below also look great so that you can leave them out as decor 🙂
Warm Drinks in Nice Vessels
Sometimes the smallest luxuries make us the happiest. In winter there is often nothing better than curling up with a warm cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or whatever your drink of choice is! Consuming that drink in a cup that makes you happy is even better.
Books Galore
When you need some alone time, decorating your house with books that you can just pick up and read is a great idea. You can enrich your mind and pass the time while having a nice book to add to your room.
