In this post we’re sharing some of our favorite picks for kitchen island counter stools to add some comfortable seating and dining area to your kitchen!
Some say that the kitchen is the heart of the home. For most people today that does seem to be the case.

The uses of kitchen islands have changed over time. Back in the 1800s and early 1900s, kitchen staff would use the kitchen island (more like a work table) to prepare food for the owners. Kitchens were also hidden away since only the staff were meant to be in there and it wasn’t the beautiful elaborately-designed space that it typically is today.
Toward the mid-1900s, spaces started to change a lot when more people used the kitchen as a gathering place. Since then, islands have become commonplace, with almost every home being built today having an island (some with multiple!)

Several things make islands great. They provide good flow for cooking. They provide somewhere for guests to sit and chat while you work on whipping up something yummy. And one of our favorite things is that they provide great style for a kitchen with the opportunity for displaying gorgeous countertops, adding statement lighting above, styling with some decor, and the topic of this post – adding some beautiful seating like counter stools!
If you have a kitchen island with seating, it’s likely that you need counter-height stools rather than bar stools which typically sit up a bit higher. But definitely make sure to measure your space so that you can pick the right height!
We’ve rounded up several of our favorite counter stools below with options for lots of styles and budgets. Keep reading to discover these!
